TikTok mum's genius life hack for 15 minutes of peace and quiet hailed by other parents

Raising kids is hard - and finding some peace and quiet while doing so is even harder.

Sometimes all parents want is a few minutes to themselves, but it's not always easy.

One mum, who shares her motherhood stories on TikTok, reckons she's found a genius way of getting time to herself so she can have a relaxing shower, Mirror Online reveals.

Kat Taylor, from Australia, posted a video describing her genius method and encouraging others to do the same.

In the video posted on her channel, @flyyoufool8, she says: "Mums and dads, don't open this with your kids around. I've got a new technique, you can thank me later."

Captioning the video 'Parenting done right-ish' she asks other parents if they are as desperate as she is for a time out from their kids.

She then instructs viewers to put a splash of bleach in the sink so the house smells like it has just been freshly cleaned.

After that, she pulls out the mop and instructs viewers to put it down onto the floor, to look like it has just been used.

Finally, she shouts up to her children: "Guys, I've just mopped the floors, you can't come out for at least 15 minutes."

When the obedient "OK" reply comes from her kids, KaT gestures to the camera to show that her trick does, in fact, work.

Winking to to viewers, she then says: "You're welcome."

Other mums commented on the video sharing their own parenting hacks which make their day to day lives easier.

One said: "A good tip for the toddler Mums - hold up a baby wipe and threaten to clean their faces, guaranteed they run the opposite direction."

Another said: "I used to put ABBA on then they’d all disappear. Worked every time. That or ask them to help. Like magic, they vanished."

But one mum said she needs another tip - after relying on the mop hack for a long time.

She said: "I used this everyday for 10 years and finally they caught on, send me another technique."
