TikTok is down: Video app crashes for users across UK and Europe

It's the go-to app for many youngsters, but it appears that TikTok has crashed this afternoon.

According to DownDetector, the issues started at around 1:12 BST, and are affecting users in the UK and Europe.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 66% said they were having problems with new videos, and 33% with log-in.

A TikTok spokesperson said: "Earlier today we experienced a temporary issue in our Singapore data center that caused short-term effects for users around usernames, profile photos, like counts, and follower lists.

"The issue has been resolved and service for our users is now fully restored. We are still investigating the root cause and apologise for the interruption our users experienced."

Several frustrated users have taken to Twitter to discuss the outage.

One user said: "is tiktok down? or is my wifi just acting up."

Another added: "i thought my tiktok was getting hacked but its just down holy s*** i was gonna have a panic attack."

And one user joked: "TikTok is down. What am I gonna do?"

Meanwhile, several users have posted screenshots of the TikTok app, with the profiles appearing to show zero videos, followers or likes.
