The shooting took place on the 4th of July at their house in La Cruz, Costa Rica. Sanarrusia built an online following of more than 100,000 across TikTok and Instagram, where she shared beauty, fashion, travel, and everyday lifestyle content. Police believe several armed people entered the couple's home while they were asleep, making the case one of the country's latest shocking acts of violence.

According to reports from La Nación, cited by People, Gabriela Sanarrusia and her 30-year-old boyfriend, Jose Isaac Agüero, were sleeping inside their home when multiple armed intruders allegedly broke into the property. The attackers opened fire, killing both of them at the scene before fleeing.
