TikTok cleaning guru shares 'genius' £2 hack to eliminate odours from smelly bins

Smelly bins can be a serious problem in any home - and emptying them is often a household chore that people avoid doing for some time due to the unpleasant smell of garbage inside.

Every time you lift the lid to bin something, the rotten stench escapes, and the kitchen is exposed to the unwanted wafting smell of rubbish. However, that need not be the case anymore thanks to one 'genius' TikToker who shared a simple life hack that will eliminate the odour that comes from our bins, the Mirror reports

Cleaning guru, @aestheticallyinhome, shares all of her biggest cleaning, home and lifestyle tips on her profile, and her latest hack shows viewers how to transform their bin cleaning habits for a reasonably low cost. The quick video shows the influencer using a toilet disc to tackle the stench of her own bin.

She said: "If you are anything like me and hate the smell of bins, add an essential oils disc to the top of your bin. It lasts a good while! I just usually change when the bin needs washing. You can definitely smell it when you add it to your bin. Goodbye smelly bins."

She reveals that the tube of toilet discs can be purchased from Tesco for £2 a pack and many people took to the comment section to share their opinion on the bargain hack.

One comment said: "Good but drives me nuts when things get stuck to it." Another chimed in, saying: "That's actually really smart."

"It works! I have been trying it for about a month. The smell is so much better!" someone else said. Several more came up with their tips to tackle smelly bins, with another adding: "You can also add some essential oils to cotton wool and place at the bottom".
