Social media giant TikTok has just dropped the stats for what users in the land down under frothed in 2021 and there’s some creators on that list we should all be aware of, muy rápido.
In the music department, two Australians cracked the top five for most ‘sound-tracked’ songs.
Sydney rapper @MaskedWolf claimed the #1 spot with his viral tune ‘Astronaut in the Ocean’, which appeared on 17 million different videos on the platform. The track is also produced by Melbourne artist Tyron Hapi, making it double the bang for your Aussie buck there.

Kamilaroi rapper @TheKidLaroi rounded out the top 5 with his track ‘Stay’ featuring Justin Bieber, which was used in over 9 million vids.
And yes, his Kamilaroi Aboriginal heritage is the reason for the name ‘Laroi’. Ahh, it all makes sense now!
‘Stay’ was also featured in TikTok’s top video for the entire year: @ToTouchAnEmu’s famous drone dancing clip.
