Wearing a masks in shops and on public transport is now mandatory in Northern Ireland.
It's difficult to get a surgical mask that fits your face properly, as some are quite loose around the sides of your face.
Dentist, Dr Olivia Cuidmd has shared a clever way of fixing this hack on TikTok.
The 60 second tutorial is extremely simple to try and has gone viral.
@oliviacuidmd explains 'how to make a regular surgical mask more protective''.
She said: "Start by washing your hands, here I have a loose fitting surgical mask and as you can see the sides of your face are left very exposed to the outside.
"What you want to do instead is fold your mask in half like so and take the ear loops on each side and just tie a knot. You do want to tie that knot as close as possible to the corners of your mask so it's nice and secured.
"This is a great trick for anyone with smaller faces as you will have a better fitted mask.
"Open that up and you'll see that little opening on the side of the face. You want to tuck that in right underneath the ear loops on each side.
"You will see it's nice and fitted to my face all around."
The hack has gone viral with 5.1m views, over 560,000 likes and 2,150 comments.
