A video has gone viral showing a quick and cost effective way that drivers can quickly de-ice their cars as the weather gets colder. The Tik Tok video, uploaded by Amysaavage on Friday, December 9, has already been viewed more than 13.5m times.
The video shows someone de-icing their car by filling a zip lock bag up with warm water and then carefully wiping it across the frost on the cars windows. People were quick to enter the comments section on their thoughts on the winter trick, many reminding each other of the importance of using warm and not boiling water.
One commented: "Please do this instead of de-icer spray, it's toxic and animals drink from the puddles. This is safer and quicker." A second added: "It is scary How more helpful tiktok is than the majority of school."
Another user wrote: "Just use warm water, been doing it for years, people that scrape or spray de-icer make me chuckle." A fourth added: "I do this but with a hot water bottle! After I’m done I take it with me so when I get to work I’ve got a toasty little heater to put on my lap."
However, many other people in the comments shared concerns about the ice just refreezing if it's cold enough. One wrote: "Tried it..and the melted water froze back up in a matter of seconds." Another commented: "Did that then when I got in car it had frozen again."
