Tight play-offs fight tipped for Bolton as big Ipswich & Sheffield Wednesday prediction made

Bolton Wanderers will be aiming to solidift their place in the League One top six this weekend with a positive result up against Oxford United.

The Whites sit fifth in the table as things stand and can make it three wins in a row if they can beat the U's. Karl Robinson's side sit just above the drop zone as things stand.

Wanderers have a game in hand over the sides above them in the table. That clash is against Portsmouth at Fratton Park and is still yet to have a rescheduled date, after it was postponed in the international break.

Throughout the campaign, football statistics website FiveThirtyEight is forecasting how the League One table might finish after the results of every matchday, with the campaign reaching the climax of the regular season at the start of May before the play-offs.

The midweek victory has seen Wanderers maintain their predicted place in the top six. They are being tipped to finish ahead of Peterborough United on goal difference.

In the automatic promotion places, Sheffield Wednesday's midweek draw to Bristol Rovers has seen them drop out of the top two. Ipswich Town are predicted to be champions, with Plymouth Argyle as runners-up.

It means Wednesday finish third and would take on Wanderers in the play-offs. The other semi-final is tipped to be Derby County taking on Portsmouth.

At the other end of the table, Accrington Stanley, Burton Albion, Forest Green Rovers and Morecambe are predicted to be relegated to League Two.
