TE Will Dissly comes through for Seahawks in Week 2 at Pittsburgh

The Seattle Seahawks sneaked by the Steelers in Pittsburgh with a little help from second-year tight end Will Dissly.

Dissly was responsible for two of Seattle’s scores on Sunday, connecting seamlessly with Russell Wilson and finishing the day with five receptions on five targets for 50 yards.

“Will looked good on a couple of other plays too, it wasn’t just the touchdown plays,” coach Pete Carroll said after the game. “Will’s come a long way to get back. He had a terrible injury. He’s been phenomenal. He continues to rehab. Every day he works on making sure he’s making progress and being able to sustain.”

After landing on the injured reserve last year with a torn patellar tendon following the Seahawks’ Week 4 matchup against the Cardinals, Dissly has had a daunting road to recovery. Carroll appreciates what the tight end has done in the first two outings of the season.

“He’s a wonderful football player on our team,” Carroll continued. “Great kid. He’s so on point with his assignments, his mentality, and all of that. And he comes through. He’s a terrific Seahawk.”

Dissly will have a shot to pad his numbers Sunday at CenturyLink Field when the Seahawks take on the Saints, who will be without Drew Brees after he injured his throwing hand in a Week 2 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
