TE Ed Dickson has knee surgery, expected to be out 4-5 weeks

Seahawks tight end Ed Dickson did not participate in Seattle’s scrimmage Saturday while battling a knee injury.

“We are keeping him off of his knee,” coach Pete Carroll said at the time. “We did MRI stuff and all that. We are taking a look at it. Break him for a couple of days and see what we’ve got.”

Carroll announced Wednesday afternoon that Dickson had undergone knee surgery.

“He got surgery yesterday on his knee,” Carroll said. “Everything went fine. He’s here today for the first time, so he’s back. … I talked to him last night. But he feels good and he’s ready to go.

“We are hoping it’s a four- to five-week deal that we can get him back on.”

Dickson is not the only Seahawks tight end who will sit out Thursday’s game. Carroll also said Will Dissly, who is back to practice in full after tearing his patellar tendon last season, will be kept out one more week to be safe.
