Tight end Corey Rua sheds his black stripe

We got word on two more Ohio State football players that lost their black stripe on Tuesday adding to an already impressive list. Freshman linebacker Cody Simon received the honor, but so too did transfer tight end Corey Rau.

At 6-foot, 4-inches, and 260-pounds, the Katy, Texas product played at SMU for four years before coming to Ohio State as a graduate transfer in the offseason and walking on. He was originally a three-star prospect in the 2016 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Despite playing a handful of seasons at another program, by shedding his black stripe, Rau is now an “official” Buckeye forever. The honor was not lost on the senior.

“I just want to say thank you to my teammates and the coaching staff here for welcoming me in with open arms,” Rau said. “Blessed to be a Buckeye, shout out to the tight ends room. Go Bucks!”

Get a look at some of his work and the moment he’ll no doubt remember forever that was shared to the Ohio State Football Twitter account.
