Tigers sign Peachey on two-year deal

Wests Tigers have snared Tyrone Peachey on a two-year deal that will see the former NSW State of Origin utility play at lock.

Out-of-contract after going unsigned by the Gold Coast, the Tigers confirmed Peachey's signature on Friday.

It's expected he will either play at No.13 or come off the bench as a forward, in a role similar to what he played for the majority of his final two years at the Titans.

But it does mean there will be squeeze in the halves at the Tigers next year, after the club had originally claimed Jackson Hastings could also play lock on arrival.

Hastings will start the year at five-eighth in place of the injured Adam Doueihi, who will miss at least the first two months of the season.

However when Doueihi returns there is every chance he could now be forced out to the centres if the Tigers are at full strength, unless a player is dropped.

Regardless, Peachey's arrival comes at a price far cheaper than what the Tigers were paying utility Moses Mbye for the past three years.

"I'm really excited to join the club and get stuck into work with Wests Tigers," Peachey said.

"I've been really impressed by Madge (Michael Maguire) and the way he approaches the game and I'm looking forward to working under him.

"I know that I perform my best when I've got a strong coach who can keep me accountable, and I've really enjoyed speaking with him lately."
