BOSTON _ With rain pouring down Monday afternoon at Fenway Park and even more in the forecast throughout the night, the series opener between the Detroit Tigers and Red Sox has been postponed.
The call came just before 4 p.m.
The game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader on Tuesday. The first game begins at 1:05 p.m. and the second game at 7:10 p.m.
Left-hander Matthew Boyd _ Monday's scheduled starter _ will pitch the first game, followed by righty Spencer Turnbull.
The postponed game is the Tigers' third this season.
