With a day off on Monday, Tigers plan to push back Michael Fulmer's next start more than one day.
"I can't tell you the day but he's getting pushed back," said Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said.
Ausmus said he's got a tentative plan for the pitching staff through the next off day.
"We have it written out for the people pitching for us right now," Ausmus said. "But it can change."
Right-handed pitcher Mike Pelfrey, on the disabled list with a lower back strain, threw a bullpen on Friday. Pelfrey also said he was going to throw a bullpen Sunday, then a simulated game after that.
"I just do what I'm told, man. I don't think I need all that, but I am doing what I'm told," Pelfrey said.
He threw 25 pitches. Asked if he threw all fastballs: "I threw the kitchen sink, man. No, I didn't feel anything (pain). It was good. I feel good."
Right-handed pitcher Jordan Zimmermann, on the disabled list with a re-aggravation of his previous neck injury, is scheduled to throw a simulated game on Sunday morning.
Ausmus said the Tigers plan to push back Fulmer at least once more based on the upcoming off days.
"There's no question we're going to do that," he said. "We're going to this time. We haven't definitively decided to do it next time or not. We could also push him back when Zimmermann gets back in the rotation. We have options. Past this coming week, we haven't really etched it in stone."
Aumsus said he isn't considering a six-man rotation.
"Not right now," Ausmus said. "I don't want to say never. We haven't discussed it."
