Tigers plan to send a scout to Tim Tebow's workout

Will Tebow Time continue with the Detroit Tigers?

Tim Tebow, the former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner, will hold a workout for MLB teams Tuesday in Los Angeles. Scott Pleis, the Tigers' director of amateur scouting, told the Free Press Wednesday that someone from the organization will be in attendance.

The Tigers appear to be doing their due diligence, like many teams. They have to assess how serious Tebow is about pursuing a baseball career _ and his skill level _ before they'd consider making him an offer.

According to USA TODAY, Tebow last played baseball on a regular basis in 2004, when he hit .494 as a junior at Nease High in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. He chose to pursue football instead and went on to win the Heisman Trophy and two national titles at Florida.

Tebow turned 29 on Aug. 14.

Pleis said he actually scouted a teammate of Tebow in high school but wasn't aware that Tebow was on the team until he became famous for his football achievements.

Tebow's NFL career lasted three seasons. He played for the Broncos in 2010-2011 and with the New York Jets in 2012.
