Tigers' Pickett handed one-game AFL ban

Marlion Pickett will miss the Tigers' next AFL game against the Crows due to suspension. (AAP)

Richmond's Marlion Pickett has been suspended for one AFL match for striking Brisbane's Brandon Starcevich.

The dual-premiership Tiger was reported in the fourth quarter of Friday night's game at the Gabba when he caught Starcevich with a high, late tackle.

The incident sparked a brief melee.

On Saturday, the match review officer assessed the incident as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact - which draws a one-match suspension.

As things stand, Pickett will miss Richmond's home clash with Adelaide at the MCG next Sunday.

Pickett has played every game so far this season, with the Tigers sitting 5-5 after their 28-point loss to the Lions.
