CLEVELAND _ The Detroit Tigers have two All-Stars.
Left fielder Justin Upton was a late addition to the American League All-Star team, Major League Baseball announced Friday afternoon.
Upton is hitting .271 with 15 home runs and 54 RBIs. It will be his fourth All-Star appearance and first in the AL.
He was a two-time All-Star with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2009 and 2011 and one-time with the San Diego Padres in 2015.
"It's an honor to be selected as an All-Star for the first time as a Tiger," Upton said in a statement released by the team. "I can't wait to get to South Florida to enjoy the festivities with Michael (Fulmer) and hopefully bring home a W for the American League."
Upton, 29, signed a six-year, $132.75 million deal with the Tigers prior to the 2016 season. He can opt out of his contract following this season.
Fulmer earned his first All-Star appearance this season but won't be part of the active roster, as he is scheduled to start on Sunday night against the Cleveland Indians.
