A late-season push for the finals isn't just for pride in the playing group, it's for the Wests Tigers fans that are doing it tough, five-eighth Adam Doueihi says.
The Tigers are a step closer to erasing a nine-year finals drought after a 24-16 win over North Queensland, with their attention now shifting to Cronulla.
Doueihi, who was instrumental in a clunky performance on Saturday in Townsville, says his team owes it to their fans to seize the opportunity that awaits them in the competition's final rounds.
"We are away from them at the moment and our members are still putting in their hard-earned money and we, unfortunately, can't play in front of them," he told AAP.
"We're trying to make them proud, our organisation proud and our families proud.
"As long as we're putting in efforts like that I'm sure they'll be proud of us.
"We're at a point in our season where it's do-or-die for us and we're really taking this opportunity to buy in as a team."
Doueihi's perfect night with the boot and combination with fellow half Luke Brooks pulled the strings in a vital win for the Tigers who are now just two points shy of the NRL's top eight.
Scoring back-to-back wins for just the second time this year, Cronulla Penrith and Canterbury now await to finish the regular season.
But while coach Michael Maguire says he hears the chatter of finals talk surrounding the club, their focus remains only on their next opponents.
"We'll concentrate on winning next week," he said.
"We do that first then those sorts of things are off the back of that."
