Tigers expect Ian Kinsler's injury to be 'short-term'

Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler wouldn't have played Thursday because of left hamstring tightness.

Kinsler left Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians in the seventh inning because of the injury.

Manager Brad Ausmus didn't have to make out a lineup card without Kinsler, however; the Tigers postponed Thursday's game against the Indians because of inclement weather. The game will be rescheduled for a later date, which hasn't yet been announced.

The Tigers didn't open their clubhouse to the media after the postponement. But Ausmus appeared earlier Thursday morning on the "Jamie & Stoney" show on 97.1 The Ticket and was asked about Kinsler: "Talked to him last night after the game. He didn't pull it or strain it. It just kind of tightened up on him."

Ausmus said the injury occurred during Kinsler's first at-bat, when he was running down the first-base line.

"If we play today, he's not going to be in the lineup," Ausmus said before the game was postponed. "But we expect it to be short-term."

Kinsler went 0 for 3 on Wednesday. He's hitting .206 with three home runs and eight RBIs.
