Detroit Tigers All-Star first baseman Miguel Cabrera left Monday's game against the Kansas City Royals after four innings with what has been termed a left biceps strain. He is day-to-day.
He was replaced defensively by Jarrod Saltalamacchia at first base.
Cabrera showed no serious signs of an injury but seemed to suffer the injury while trying to catch an errant throw by starting pitcher Daniel Norris in the first inning. On the play, he made contact with baserunner Cheslor Cuthbert.
Cabrera went 0-for-1 with a walk. He is hitting .310 this season with 27 home runs and 77 RBIs.
The Tigers are already without starting shortstop Jose Iglesias (hamstring), center fielder Cameron Maybin (left thumb) and third baseman Nick Castellanos (broken left hand), all on the disabled list. Also, starting pitchers Mike Pelfrey (back) and Jordan Zimmermann (neck) are on the DL.
