Tiger Woods Told Police He Was ‘Just Talking With the President’ at DUI Crash Site

Tiger Woods was arrested for DUI last week after he hit a trailer and rolled his SUV in Florida. It was both the second time he rolled an SUV and second time he had been charged with DUI.

Police footage from the scene of the accident was released on Thursday showing Woods being questioned by officers, arrested and put in the back of a police vehicle where he had trouble staying awake and was seen having hiccups.

Perhaps the most interesting piece of footage comes from before he was arrested when police were still trying to sort things out. Police bodycam video shows Woods walking down a paved path, back towards the site while finishing a phone call. The officer tells Woods he'd like him to stay "down here with us" and Woods very nonchalantly responds, "Yeah, I was just talking with the president."

Now, he does not explicitly say that he was speaking with the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, but there's a non-zero percent chance that that is exactly what he meant. Trump and Tiger are tight. Trump has honored Woods at the White House, awarding him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019. He has also hosted him and played golf with him at his various courses on multiple occasions.

Woods is also dating Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr.

On top of all that, the day before Woods's accident, Trump seemingly broke the news that Woods would not play in the 2026 Masters. This came just two days after Tiger made his TGL season debut and left the door open for the possibility that he would play in the Masters.

If Tiger was talking to Trump from the scene of his accident, Trump did not let on when he was asked about the accident later in the day.

“I feel so badly. He’s got some difficulty," said Trump. "There was an accident and that’s all I know. Very close friend of mine. He’s an amazing person, amazing man. But some difficulty."

So we may never know exactly which president Tiger was talking to from the scene of his second DUI arrest. He's the kind of person who probably has the presidents of many things saved in his phone.

Whoever he was talking to, the way he waved his hand as he said it seemed to imply that the phone call was no big deal. Considering he was arrested a short time later, the police seemed to agree.
