Tiger Woods supports former coach's suspension from radio show over racist, sexist remarks

COLUMBUS, Ohio _ A purposeful and direct Tiger Woods said he supports his former coach being suspended indefinitely from his radio show over racist and sexist comments that he made on the air.

On Friday, after the second round of the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club, Woods was asked about Hank Haney, now host of a SiriusXM PGA Tour show. The suspension was announced Thursday after comments he made Wednesday about the LPGA.

"He deserved it," Woods said. "Just can't look at life like that. And he obviously said what he meant, and he got what he deserved."

The PGA Tour and LPGA issued a statement Thursday, calling his words "insensitive" and announced the suspension.

"SiriusXM proudly covers and supports both women's and men's golf and the athletes that make them great," it read. "At the PGA Tour's instruction, Mr. Haney has been suspended from the SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio channel. SiriusXM is reviewing his status on SiriusXM going forward."

Haney coached Woods from 2004 to '10. Woods is tied for 33rd at 2 under par after two rounds.
