Tiger Woods spotted practicing at Pebble Beach ahead of U.S. Open

Tiger Woods is heading to Dublin, Ohio in a few days for the Memorial Tournament, but first things first.

Time for some U.S. Open prep at Pebble Beach.

Instagram user @_krebs831 posted video of Woods walking the grounds Thursday on what looks like a cold, rainy morning on the Monterey Peninsula. Bundled up in a black sweatshirt, the video shows Woods walking the course with girlfriend Erica Herman and longtime friend/TGR Vice President Rob McNamara.

Woods hasn’t played a competitive round at Pebble Beach since finishing T-15 at the 2012 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. He scored perhaps his most dominant career victory there at the 2000 U.S. Open, winning by a record-setting 15 strokes, and is set to return for this year’s U.S. Open June 13-16.

Woods is coming off a missed cut in the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black, his first event back since the Masters victory in April. He committed to the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village earlier this week for what will almost certainly be his only start prior to the U.S. Open.

The extended break leading up to the PGA Championship was mostly due to the emotionally and physically draining victory at Augusta, and Woods planned to play fewer tournaments this year regardless. Now it looks like he’s back to his normal practice routine ahead of the U.S. Open after a down week at Bethpage.

“There’s no reason why I can’t get up to speed again and crank it back up,” Woods said last week. “I’ve got to start feeling a little better before that happens. We’ll do that first and then start cranking it back up again.”
