At the time, Woods issued a statement that alcohol was not involved, a claim substantiated by a breathalyzer test. He added that he had experienced a reaction from prescription medicines. Videos showed Woods to be groggy and disoriented when he was arrested and taken into custody after police found him asleep in his car on a road near his Jupiter, Fla., home.
Days earlier, he said in a post on his website that he felt as good as he has felt in years, due to the success of his latest back surgery.
"I'm currently receiving professional help to manage my medications and the ways that I deal with back pain and a sleep disorder," he said in the post last night, a day after the U.S. Open that drew low television ratings in part because of his absence. "I want to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of support and understanding, especially the fans and players on tour."
Woods is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 9.
