Tiger Woods out at Dell Match Play, with 50th-seeded Bjerregaard pulling upset

AUSTIN, Texas _ Upstart Lucas Bjerregaard, who plays mostly on the European Tour, knocked off Tiger Woods Saturday afternoon to secure a spot in the semifinals of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play tournament.

Bjerregaard pressed Woods on the final three holes with an eagle, birdie and par. The two were tied as they hit their tee shots on 18. Each shot landed in roughly the same spot, in the fringes of the fairway, 40 or so yards from the hole. Bjerregaard put his second shot on the green. Woods' shot landed in a bunker.

Bjerregaard missed his chance at birdie and settled for par. Woods could've kept the match going into a sudden-death playoff. Instead, he missed his four-foot putt for par to the left.

In other action, part-time Austin resident Sergio Garcia lost to Matt Kuchar in the final quarterfinal match. Bjerregaard will play Kuchar in Sunday's semifinals.

Francesco Molinari, who beat Kevin Na, 6-5, will meet Kevin Kisner in the other semifinal. Kisner edged Louis Oostheizen, 2-1.
