Tiger Woods meets new star, Tom Kim

Says Norman 'must go' and wants rankings fixed

ALBANY, BAHAMAS: Tiger Woods is taking no prisoners. Even as he expressed disappointment at not being able to compete at his own Hero World Challenge, the legend was very emphatic on a variety of subjects.

Restricted to being 'just a host', Woods did not hold back as he took a swipe at the World Golf Rankings asking for it to be fixed. He was insistent that Greg Norman 'has to go' for any peace possibilities between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, and finally said he was looking forward to "meeting and shaking hands" with the latest global star, Tom Kim (Kim Joo-hyung). Yes, Woods also hit a few shots at the Hero Shot exhibition event, though he was eliminated early.

Woods was categorical when asked about the 'golf war'. He said, "I see that there's an opportunity out there. But I think Greg (Norman) has to go, first of all, and then obviously litigation againstus and then our countersuit against them, those would then have to be at a stay as well. So then we can talk, we can all talk freely."

On the contentious World Golf Rankings, he was very strong, "Yeah, OWGR, it's a flawed system. That's something we all here recognize. The field at Dubai (DP World Tour Championship) got less points than Sea Island (RSM Classic on the PGA Tour) and more of the top players were there in Dubai, so obviously there's a flawed system. How do you fixit? Those are the meetings we're going to have to have."

Later in the afternoon, even as he was joking around, he kept an eye on Tom Kim at the Hero Shot. Kim did not disappoint. He was on target; entertained and engaged with the fans and almost won the Hero Shot, before losing the final to Matthew Fitzpatrick.

On Kim, Woods said, "I've never met him. I'm looking forward to welcoming him to the Hero World Challenge. And thank him for playing."
