Tiger Woods hosts Masters Champions Dinner from quarantine despite tournament postponement

The defence of Tiger Woods’ Masters title may have been delayed until November but it didn’t stop the current Augusta champion from hosting the traditional Champions Dinner last night.

Habitually the winner hosts a dinner of his choosing during Masters week at the subsequent running of the event.

But with no players to share his choice of menu with, Woods instead served it up to his girlfriend Erica Herman, daughter Sam and son Charlie.

“Masters Champions Dinner quarantine style. Nothing better than being with family,” wrote Woods on social media bedecked in his trademark red Nike Sunday top for any Major and his winner’s Green Jacket.

The Champions Dinner, the attendees of which are solely previous Masters winners and the club chairman, dates back to 1952.

Woods had pledged to serve up a mixed menu of steak, fajitas, sushi and sashimi, the same food he had requested after his last Masters win back in 2006. It is unclear, though, exactly what he served up for his family on Tuesday night in lockdown at his South Florida home.

The defence of his fairytale win from last year had been due to begin on Thursday but has been put back by seven months because of the coronavirus pandemic with a new start date of November 12.
