Tiger Woods Called To Retire As He Is 'Damaging His Legacy'

Tiger Woods has been advised to ‘step away completely’ from golf as he is ‘damaging his legacy’.

That’s according to Rory McIlroy’s former agent Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler who feels Woods should retire from professional golf.

Rory McIlroy’s Former Agent Calls For Tiger Woods Retirement

Andrew Chandler, also known as ‘chubby’ Chandler, has called for Tiger Woods to retire from professional golf. The former agent of Rory McIlroy believes Woods should be ‘stepping away completely’ as he is ‘damaging his legacy’.

The 15-time major champion has most recently been competing in his TGL league, and is expected to tee it up at The Masters 2025 in April too. However, Woods has just one major win since 2008, with some golf insiders calling for the legend to call time on his career.

Injuries have wreaked havoc on Tiger’s career this past decade in particular, with the last few years being particularly bad. Woods has been drifting further away from contention as the years pass, and really only competes in the four majors now if fit.

Although the 49-year-old appears to be in great shape physically on the surface, he still struggles with various injuries. That being said, Woods has no plans on retiring anytime soon, despite some feeling he should.

One of those people is Andrew Chandler. The former agent of Rory McIlroy’s believes the 15-time major championship winner should step away from professional golf for a few years, as he is damaging his legacy.

Chandler believes Woods should even compete on the senior tour and focus more on enjoying event rather than competing with the world’s best.

Andrew Chandler: Woods Is ‘Damaging His Legacy’ & Would Be ‘Better Stepping Away Completely’ From Golf

In a recent interview with Vision4Sport, Andrew Chandler pulled no punches in his assessment of Tiger Woods‘ career as of today. Although Chandler has huge respect for Woods and his achievements, he feels he would be better stepping away instead of tarnishing his legacy.

“I’m not convinced by this TGL. I think Tiger would be better stepping away completely for two to three years and then start playing again, if he wanted to,” Rory McIlroy‘s former agent told Vision4Sport.

“I don’t know if Tiger will even be playing in the Majors in 2025 but doesn’t it even make a difference anymore? Do I want to see him down the field? No, I don’t. So if he plays in the Majors, I hope he’s at least semi-competitive. Not like how he is at the moment.

“He’s shattered. He’s not in great shape. I don’t know what’s in his head. If he stepped away and just watched his boy grow up and do all the things you do, if he then came back he’d then be far enough away from the real Majors to be teed up as an elder statesman.

“That comeback win in 2019, that was his moment. That was it. All Tiger is doing now is damaging his legacy,” Chandler concluded.
