Tiger Roll wins Grand National 2019 with historic triumph at Aintree: Race results in full

Tiger Roll secured his place in sporting history by becoming the first horse since Red Rum to win back-to-back Grand Nationals.

The Gordon Elliott-trained star was sent off 4-1 favourite to defend his crown and was given a superb ride by Davy Russell for a repeat of last year's success.

Sitting in behind the leaders early on, Russell made his move to jump into the lead at the last and stayed on well up the lengthy run-in to secure a more comfortable win than last year, when he was almost pegged back by Pleasant Company.

The victory confirms Tiger Roll's status as an all-time great, with his two Aintree victories adding to four Cheltenham Festival successes.

The only mare in the race, Magic Of Light, ran a stormer for second at 66/1.

Willie Mullins' Rathvinden finished third under Ruby Walsh, with Walk In The Mill fourth and Anibale Fly backing up his second place finish in the Gold Cup in fifth.
