Tiger King's Joe Exotic to launch own radio show from prison after Netflix fame

Joe Exotic is cashing in on his sudden fame following the release of the bizarre Netflix documentary series Tiger King last month.

The former zookeeper, 57, is currently in talks with radio bosses in the US to launch his own show from prison.

He is currently serving 22 years behind bars in Texas for animal cruelty and murder for hire after trying to pay a hitman to kill his rival Carole Baskin.

And despite his crimes, he's won legions of fans and is keen to milk his fame for all its worth with a showbiz career, according to his husband Dillon Passage.

He told Metro.co.uk : "This radio station here in the US wants him to have his own radio show from inside the prison.

"So we'll see what happens with that. It's kind of mind-blowing."

Dillon said that Joe is loving the attention the series has brought him.

He added: "I know he absolutely loves the attention.

"He's got a load of really good feedback, a lot of letters, a lot of emails."

It's been claimed that Orlando Bloom is being lined up to play Joe in a film based on the Netflix series.

According to The Sun, 20th Century Fox are in the early stages of planning a movie version of the shocking story.

A movie source said: "All filming is on lockdown at the moment but the studios are exploring projects they can get going on as soon as possible and they think Tiger King is the perfect story.

"The popularity of the series has been unprecedented and they think a film about it could be even more dramatic.

"The film could shed light on some details behind the scenes that were not shown in the Netflix series."
