Tiger King's Joe Exotic is convinced Trump will pardon him before leaving office

Tiger King star Joe Exotic is convinced Donald Trump is going to pardon him, it's claimed.

The Netflix star reportedly dismissed his pardon lawsuit after learning that his request has been received by the US President.

Exotic is currently serving a 22-year sentence for plotting to kill his rival and fellow Tiger King star Carole Baskin.

Just last week Exotic sued the US Justice Department for rejecting his official pardon request because it claimed it wasn't valid as his petition wasn't presented directly to Trump.

According to New York Post, the he lawsuit had said: "Many people have come out and publicly expressed their disagreement with Joe Exotic's conviction and subsequent sentence.

"Among those, are members of the president's own family.

" Donald Trump Junior has been an advocate for Joe Exotic to be pardoned."

He had asked the judge to force the White House Pardon Attorney to get his application in front of Trump for a final decision.

But the disgraced zookeeper, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, withdrew his complaint after learning Trump had received his petition, TMZ reports.

Exotic says he's now got a shot of getting a pardon and doesn't need to pursue legal action.

Trump previously said he would "take a look" at Exotic's request.

On Tuesday Trump pardoned 15 people and commuted the sentence of five others.

US Presidents have the power to pardon those who have committed crimes or reduce (commute) their sentences.

He is yet to pardon Exotic.
