Tiger King star Jeff Lowe has revealed the moment when his relationship with Joe Exotic was lost forever, in a brutally honest Reddit Q&A.
Lowe took over The Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park from Joe Exotic after he was jailed for 22 years after being found guilty of a murder-for-hire plot to kill animal rights activist Carole Baskin.
Lowe became involved with Exotic after he was approached by the zoo owner after he lost a court case with the Big Cat Rescue founder and ended up owing his nemesis $1 million.
The Netflix hit of the coronavirus lockdown period showed the lengths that Exotic went to bring Baskin down and Lowe has now revealed what it was that Exotic did that lost his respect completely.
On Wednesday night, Lowe went on Reddit to answer some burning questions that some fans had about the show.
He introduced the Q&A session with: "Hi Reddit! My name is Jeff Lowe, I'm the CEO and Founder of Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park and was recently featured on Netflix's TIGER KING.
"I'm entering the tiger cage on Reddit to answer your questions.....so ASK ME ANYTHING!"
And the questions soon came flooding in and one in particular caught Jeff's eye.
One Reddit user asked: "At what point did you realize Joe was bats*** insane? It seemed that the two of you were close at the beginning, did something happen specifically to change your opinion of him?"
Jeff revealed there was an exact moment that his relationship with Joe fell apart completely and it involved the proposed death of tiger cubs.
Jeff answered: "Ya know, what initially p***ed me off about Joe is when we were going to Vegas and I received a message regarding him.
"The turning point for me was when he was saying he was going to put down two tiger cubs before we returned, and I lost all respect for him."
With Joe becoming more obsessed with the downfall of Carole Baskin, Jeff realised that backing the zoo owner could be highly damaging and he turned on him, much to Joe's disappointment.
