Tiffany Haddish provides promising update on Girls Trip sequel

Tiffany Haddish has claimed filming on Girls Trip 2 will commence in summer 2026

Tiffany Haddish has claimed Girls Trip 2 will begin "shooting this summer".

The 45-year-old comedienne starred alongside the likes of Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith and Regina Hall as hell-raiser Dina in the hit 2017 comedy.

And, it looks like plans for a sequel are edging ever closer.

Haddish told PEOPLE: “I don’t know exactly where we’re going, but I know it’s somewhere exotic and somewhere we don’t normally go, but we should go as much as possible.

“That’s what I do know. We’re supposed to start shooting this summer.”

The Night School star's update mirrors that of producer Will Packer, who spilled last year: “We actually are looking at doing an exotic locale — I can’t reveal it right now, but I do have a script for the first time."

Girls Trip follows a group of four friends who go to New Orleans to attend the Essence Music Festival and get up to no good a long the way.

Packer confirmed a sequel was in the works back in 2022.

He told Good Morning America: “Can’t we all use a post-pandemic trip, my friend? I think that the time is actually right, and this is something that I will tell you and break right now at GMA: the Girls Trip 2 sequel — we are underway.

"We are absolutely in the stages, the ladies are in, I just talked to the director.”

The flick - which took $140.9 million at the global box office - was helmed by Malcolm D. Lee.

All of the aforementioned stars are expected to reprise their roles.

Latifah previously told Entertainment Tonight: "From everything I know it's locked and loaded and ready to go. It's just that somebody's gotta make it happen."
