Tiffany Haddish calls Will Smith’s defense of wife in Oscars slap of Chris Rock ‘the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen’

Will Smith has the support of Tiffany Haddish, who described the actor’s defense of his wife at the Oscars as “the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen.”

Smith walked onstage at Sunday’s ceremony and slapped Chris Rock after the comedian made a bald joke about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Pinkett Smith has been open about losing her hair due to the condition alopecia.

“When I saw a Black man stand up for his wife. That meant so much to me,” Haddish, who was a presenter at the Oscars, told People.

“And maybe the world might not like how it went down, but for me, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen because it made me believe that there are still men out there that love and care about their women, their wives.”

Following the incident, Smith won the Oscar for best actor for his performance in “King Richard” as the eccentric father of tennis greats Venus and Serena Williams.

He apologized during his acceptance speech to the Academy and his fellow nominees, but not to Rock.

Hip hop star Nicki Minaj also seemed to sympathize with Smith.

“You just got to witness in real time what happens in a man’s soul when he looks over to the woman he loves & sees her holding back tears from a ‘little joke’ at her expense,” Minaj tweeted Monday. “This is what any & every real man feels in that instant. while y’all seeing the joke he’s seeing her pain.

The Los Angeles Police Department said it is “aware” of the incident.

“The individual involved has declined to file a police report,” LAPD said in a statement to the Daily News. “If the involved party desires a police report at a later date, LAPD will be available to complete an investigative report.”
