Tiers and Tantrums: New book charts the highs and lows of parenting in a pandemic

March 2020: “Sorry, how long do we have to do this for again?”

That particular line marks the start of writer Lynda Moyo’s trials and tribulations of parenthood in a pandemic that quickly became Lemon-Aid - a daily newsletter for exhausted parents at the start of the first lockdown.

With children, it’s very much blink and you miss it - one minute you’re changing nappies and the next you’re the embarrassment at the school gates. It’s the great paradox of parenthood; it moves in both slow motion and super fast speed.

This is certainly one year many of us wouldn’t mind speeding up and forgetting in many ways, but remains a pivotal time in history that should be remembered if only to learn more about ourselves. And if Lemon-Aid is anything to go by, parents have certainly learned a lot aside from how to homeschool their children.

It’s for that reason, the popular newsletter has today launched as an e-book memoir of life in lockdown with little ones. The aptly named Tiers and Tantrums is written by a mother for families, and in support of ending child poverty with Save The Children UK’s Save a Kid’s Christmas appeal .

As one reader described the daily diary entries: “I have a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old and you absolutely hit the nail on the head with what it’s like. It makes me smile in the morning.”

Tiers and Tantrums costs just £1.99 and by purchasing this e-book you will have contributed 99p towards helping underprivileged children.

Save the Children's work has become even more important since Covid struck, hitting family budgets and seeing children falling behind at school. The charity has already delivered 9,000 emergency grants to households in England worst-hit by the pandemic.
