Tierney in VAR relief as Arsenal star describes Scotland goal emotions

Arsenal star Kieran Tierney was left sweating on a decision from VAR as Scotland dramatically beat Israel on Saturday night.

The Muirhouse man was in action once again for the nation in Saturday's win over Israel, which was sealed by Scott McTominay's last-minute winner.

Wins over Faroe Islands and Moldova in the next two Group F qualifiers will seal a play-off spot for Steve Clarke's side.

Muirhouse's Scotland star says Clarke's camp is beginning to feel domestic-like, as Tierney explained the nervy few moments when McTominay's effort hit the net, waiting to see if the video assistant referee picked up on anything.

"It was a brilliant result for us," Tierney told Sky Sports. "It's another hurdle we have overcame.

"You can see how the team fought until the last minute, it was great.

"You're always, always thinking in the back of your head 'I hope VAR doesn't come in here.'

"But luckily for us, it was perfect and the night ended the way we wanted it to.

"It's starting to feel like that club feel a lot now. We've got the camp next month and then there's the break - we're sitting wondering when we'll next see each other!

"There was a togetherness, the full country was behind us. We've felt this since we qualified for the Euros and it's just got stronger."
