Tiemoue Bakayoko has talked up the prospect of a return to AC Milan.
The midfielder has returned to Chelsea following his loan at Monaco but is unlikely to have much of a future at Stamford Bridge.
With Frank Lampard planning a summer overhaul of the Blues, Bakayoko has been linked with the exit door at the club.
Chelsea are looking to raise funds in order to finance more transfers and the 25-year-old's £100,000-a-week wages have left the Blues open to selling him.
Whilst the Blues will struggle to recoup anywhere near the £40m they paid Monaco for the midfielder in 2017, AC Milan are in talks over a potential loan deal for Bakayoko with the option to buy.
Bakayoko spent the 2018/19 season on loan at the San Siro and, speaking to Tutto Mercato, the Frenchman did not rule out a return.
He said: "Everyone knows that Milan is in my heart and I have good memories.
"At the moment I'm a Chelsea player, then we'll see in football."
Bakayoko impressed during his season at AC Milan, making 42 appearances in all competitions.
Yet the Rossoneri would struggle to afford buying Bakayoko outright in the current financial climate.
Chelsea are said to be keen to recoup as much of the £40m they paid for Bakayoko as possible, whilst the player's high wages also present a hurdle.
It means that a loan deal could well be the most likely compromise, with the Blues shifting a portion of Bakayoko's salary off their wage bill to free up space for new signings.
