Tide Lines ensure gigs are back with a bang at Ayr Town Hall

Tide Lines preformed in Ayr last night and brought the much-missed sound of live music back to the walls of the Town Hall.

The band, formed of Robert Robertson, Ross Wilson, Alasdair Turner and Fergus Munro, first arrived on the music scene back in 2016 with the release of ‘Far Side of the World’ which cemented them as a force in the Scottish folk world and drew fans from all over the country.

Now with the release of their third album ‘Eye of the Storm,’ they have finally been able to tour after the harsh realities of lockdown.

Robert, who admitted to his apprehensions of releasing the album, revealed that its success during lockdown before the concert had been a big boost.

He said: “We had a full PR campaign planned that centred around the traditional route of releasing an album which is touring and doing gigs but then of course lockdown came in and that route was just closed to us.

“But actually, with social media it probably got more engagement than it would have otherwise.

“We wanted to chart Top 40, but it ended up 12 so it was much better than we could have anticipated.”

Ayr was the first official night of the tour and the Ayrshire crowd did not disappoint.

From the fans to the people behind the bar, the atmosphere was electric and the smiles on everyone’s faces almost made up for the absence the Town Hall faced the past year.

One fan that travelled from Elgin to see the band preform said: “The first concert I’ve seen since lockdown and it feels like 2019 again! Tide Lines were amazing.”
