Tickets to Avon Valley Railway's Santa train have already sold out for some dates

A family favourite Christmas event in Bristol has already seen tickets start to sell out. But families do not need to fear looking for festive fun elsewhere yet, as the Avon Valley Railway Santa train experience still has a range of dates that are available to book for.

The annual Santa Steam Specials allows for families and kids to ride the festive train for 50 minutes, where they can enjoy a mince pie or festive biscuit as Santa himself will pass through the train to greet everyone. Once train goers return to Bitton Station, each lucky group will meet Santa again and even receive a present from him.

Families also have the opportunity to take photographs with Santa and create those special festive memories with their loved ones. This year’s bespoke present will be an Avon Valley Railway Santa-themed plush ‘bear’, as well as another present that would be suitable for children under 1.

On the Avon Valley Railway website , they have stated that despite COVID restrictions being lifted, they will continue to allow for families to be seated in separate compartments (fit for up to eight people) or table areas (fit for up to four people) away from other passengers - to ensure social distancing. Meanwhile, passengers can also have an option to receive a 7.5 per cent discount for each booking reserved for seven or more people altogether.

The highly popular Christmas donkeys will also be making their return once again - where passengers can see them on the lawn at Britton Station either before or after they have travelled on the train. Avon Valley Railway’s Santa Steam Specials have proved to be a success time and time again - with last year’s experience selling out all 72 sessions by November.

The Breakfast with Santa and Mince Pie trips are also available to book, as the Breakfast with Santa does includes a first class dining experience, as well as a fleeting visit by Mr. Clause. This experience will not contain a visit to Santa’s Grotto.

The Mince Pie Specials are available to book for both December 26 and January 1 of next year, where festive travellers can come aboard on a steam hauled train and enjoy a mince pie throughout.
