Tickets on sale for Liverpool's most exclusive Christmas Grotto at Speke Hall

With September finally here, many people are starting to plan ahead for Christmas and tickets to Speke Hall's Christmas grotto are now on sale.

In the run up to Christmas, visitors can enjoy a festive experience full of Victorian traditions, including carol singing, sugar mice making and Christmas trails to explore inside and out. The National Trust property will be decorated with huge handmade green garlands, twinkling lights and a towering Christmas tree.

Speke Hall's Christmas Past event takes place on the following weekends, from 10.30am to 4pm, with festive fun taking place in the house from 12.30pm.

  • November 30 and December 1
  • December 7 and 8
  • December 14 and 15.

Visits to the Christmas grotto will take place on these dates between 10.45am and 4pm and must be pre-booked. Grotto entrance is £4 per child and normal entry prices to Speke Hall also apply. Tickets to the grotto often sell out fast, so book ahead to avoid disappointment.

This year, Speke Hall is also hosting Breakfast with Father Christmas from December 19 to 22. The breakfast takes place in the Home Farm restaurant from 9am to 10.30am each day, and includes story time with Father Christmas and a present to take home. Prices are £10 per child and £6.50 per child, and normal entry prices to Speke Hall apply.

Other Christmas events at Speke Hall this year include its Tranquil Festive Fridays, on November 23 and December 6 and 13, between 12:30pm and 4pm, where you can enjoy winter walks around the grounds and chat to the team who create the decorations.

There are also evenings of festive music to enjoy, where local choirs will perform carol concerts in the Great Hall on December 4, 5 and 6.

For those who fancy something a little different, The Lady in Black will be sharing chilling Christmas ghost stories on December 12 and 13.
