Tickets for Wales' World Cup semi final against South Africa are selling for £8,000

A ticket for Wales' Rugby World Cup semi-final clash against South Africa next weekend will set you back nearly £8,000.

Warren Gatland's men reached the penultimate stage of the tournament following a nail-biting victory against France in Oita on Sunday.

And as the team starts its preparations to face the Springboks at the International Stadium in Yokohama, thousands of fans will be hoping to get their hands on a ticket for the match.

While there are no tickets available for the match through the Rugby World Cup's official website, there are a few hundred or so available on secondary ticketing website StubHub.

As of Monday morning, the most expensive tickets will set you back a whopping £7,927.22 each, more than 70 times their £107 face value.

If that stretches your bank balance too far there are tickets available from £177.13.

World Rugby has previously said it would be banning the resale of tickets on unauthorised sites but this doesn't seem to have stopped the practice with demand for tickets pushing prices higher and higher.

It's a similar story for the other semi final between England and New Zealand with the game sold out through official channels.

The most expensive ticket available on StubHub fetches £2,219.62 while the cheapest tickets start selling from £426.09.

Tickets for the final, which also takes place at the International Stadium in Yokohama on Saturday, November 2, are also officially sold out but are selling online from £522.96 to a staggering £21,793.72.

Prices have also gone up when it comes to flights with British Airways and Japan Airlines selling economy-class seats to Tokyo for more than £2,000.

There are cheaper flights but these are not direct to Tokyo. China Eastern Airlines is offering a return flight for £538 but the journey takes 24 hours with a nine-hour stop over in Shanghai.
