Tickets for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are now on sale at Bristol cinemas - here's how to book

It would be fair to say Star Wars fans up and down the country are getting excited as the release of The Rise of Skywalker draws nearer.

Episode 9 of the franchise, directed by J. J. Abrams, will see returns for Mark Hamill as the late Luke Skywalker, Billy Dee Williams as classic trilogy character Lando Calrissian, and Carrie Fisher appearing posthumously as the beloved General Leia Organa.

Other new cast additions include Richard E. Grant as First Order Allegiant General Pryde, Keri Russell as Zori Bliss and Naomi Ackie as Jannah.

Early this morning the final trailer for the film, which hits cinemas across the country on December 18, was released and shows off epic scenes from the final episode in the central Skywalker saga of the Star Wars franchise.

The sequel trilogy is set to come to an epic conclusion as Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, leads the light side of the force alongside the Resistance in an attempt to put a stop to the evil First Order and their villainous Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver, reports The Mirror.

The footage also teases the potential darkness for Rey to come, while the pair are set for an epic showdown that also demonstrates the full power of classic trilogy villain Emperor Palpatine, played by Ian McDiarmid.

It's set to be an emotional finale to the main saga of the Star Wars universe.
