Ticket prices skyrocket for UGA-Notre Dame

With two arguable top five teams in the country squaring off in Athens on September 21st, it goes without saying that tickets to the game won’t be cheap. Still, no one could have foreseen just how expensive tickets are becoming for the UGA-Notre Dame game.

Per the AJC,  the average lowest ticket price on secondary markets for the contest is around $600, which is toughly $250 more than the lowest ticket prices for other marquee games like LSU-Texas.

The stakes of the game itself are not the only reason that ticket prices are so astronomical. Ticket prices for the Dawgs have been the highest in college football over the last few seasons, due in large part to the fact that the coaching staff salaries received a 42% raise from 2012 to 2017, according to Forbes. This year, Georgia’s staff is the sixth highest paid in the country. Ticket prices are one way to bring back that revenue.

While raising the ticket prices for this game may be necessary for the school economically, fans hoping to attend the game may not be so understanding.
