The price of admission tickets has gone up at Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.
The base price for visitors age 12 and older is now $57, up from $50. Children between the ages of 3 and 11 are being charged $47, up from $40.
It's the Brevard County, Fla., attraction's first ticket hike in six years, said Therrin Protze, chief operating officer.
"It's not just to take care of the property and add new experiences. There's a substantial amount going to Title I schools," he said. "We'll be offering programs at no cost, including transportation to many of the Title I schools. There's a huge educational focus of these dollars to allow for our outreach to expand."
The attraction also plans to add staff to "improve our guest experience," Protze said.
There is also a $4 increase for visitors ages 55 and older and those currently serving in the military. They are now paying $50 for a one-day ticket.
New prices for the three tiers of annual passes range from $82 to $146, with various levels of parking privileges, tours and discounts.
The complex recently introduced activities within its new Astronaut Training Experience attraction. Another recent addition is the Heroes & Legends exhibit, which includes the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame, and a significant renovation to the Space Shop. The complex is home to the retired Atlantis space shuttle.
