Britain's Katie Boulter battled past Barbora Krejcikova to book her place in the quarter-finals of the Tianjin Open.

The 22-year-old triumphed 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 against the Czech qualifier and set up a meeting with top seed Karolina Pliskova in the final eight.

Unseeded Boulter, who had upset eighth seed Maria Sakkari in the previous round, took an early lead in the opening set, breaking Krejcikova in the second game.

Despite losing the advantage a few games later, the world No 101 bounced straight back and took the first set in just over half an hour.

The second set was much less straightforward, however, and Boulter lost three service games in a row as her opponent levelled the match.

The pair went on to exchange breaks at the start of the third, and the set remained on even terms until the Brit edged ahead at 5-3 and served out the match.
