Tiago Silva faces crucial 48 hours as Nottingham Forest exit looms - report

Tiago Silva's exit from Nottingham Forest is expected to be confirmed this week, with the midfielder set to wrap up a move to Olympiakos.

According to reports in Greece, the Portuguese playmaker is expected to arrive in Athens in the next 48 hours as he closes in on his departure from the City Ground.

But Sportime say PAE and Forest are yet to strike an agreement despite both of them being owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

Reports last week stated that Silva was due to join Olympiakos on a free transfer with Cafu heading the other way.

But it is expected that it will be a player plus cash deal for the midfielder who is a popular figure among supporters on Trentside.

Olympiakos are on course to reach the Champions League group stages and need reinforcements to help cope with their schedule.

Speculation about Silva's future at Forest has been the subject of much speculation throughout the summer and it has intensified having not featured in any of the Reds' games this season despite their horrendous start.

Boss Sabri Lamouchi has also made a plethora of midfield signings which has only fuelled talk that Silva is set to leave the club.

Silva joined Nottingham Forest from Portuguese side CD Feirense in 2019, and has quickly became a key player for the Championship  side.

Last season the midfielder made 44 appearances in the league for Sabri Lamouchi’s side, scoring three goals and providing four assists.

He produced some excellent performances as Forest looked odds on to seal a top-six finish until they suffered a disastrous last-day against Stoke which meant they finished outside the play-off positions.

Silva's contract at the City Ground is not set expire until June 2022.

The news comes as the Reds still look for one last signing before the transfer window closes with a winger on the priority list.

In the last week they have been linked with a swoop for West Brom's Kamil Grosicki having seen a move for the ex-Hull winger fail in January.

Grosicki moved to West Brom instead and helped them win promotion to the Premier League, but it is now believed the Baggies may be willing to sanction his departure.

Last week reports in Poland claimed that Grosicki had a very good deal on the table from Forest whose interest in the talented wideman has not waned despite missing out on his signature at the turn of the year.
