Thursday troubles: Two domestic flights face engine snags, both land safely at destination

NEW DELHI: An Air India Airbus A320 (VT-EXF) winging its way from Delhi to Varanasi on Thursday had an inflight engine shutdown.

The flight (AI 406) landed safely at its destination and the plane is grounded there for inspection and repairs, said senior aviation officials overseeing this work.

“The AI Airbus (VT-EXF) was involved in the number two engine inflight shutdown as it encountered oil leak,” the official said.

And a SpiceJet Boeing 737 (VT-SLP) operating as SG-472 from Belagavi to Delhi on Thursday sought priority landing at the destination after an engine snag. The aircraft landed safely in Delhi.

“During descent engine number 2 fuel filter bypass light got illuminated. The non-normal checklist actions were carried out. The plane landed safely,” the official added.
