Scotland flood chaos as cars stranded in water and roads turn into rivers
Motorists in Scotland were left stranded in water last night after significant rain and flooding wreaked havoc across the central belt.
Cars were pictured stuck in water on Glasgow's Great Western Road and Byres Road as heavy rain turned the city's roads into rivers.
Scotland was battered by heavy downpours on Wednesday causing fast-flowing floods with warnings of more than a month's worth of rain falling in some parts.
It comes as the Met Office issued a 'danger to life' amber warning which will last until midnight on Thursday with South West Scotland to be hit worst.

Scots teen who had never been to hospital shocked with cancer diagnosis after suffering chest pains
A brave Scots teen has told how he received the devastating news he has stage four cancer despite being so healthy he had never set foot in a hospital before.
Conor Elliott was left in shock when doctors told him in February this year that his agonising chest pains and lack of sleep were actually a result of a tumour.
The 19-year-old was diagnosed with stage four Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer most common in teens and young adults.
The condition affects lymphocytes, a form of white blood cell which form part of the immune system.
He is now determined to encourage others to push for early diagnosis and make it clear that cancer can affect anyone.

Dozens of Police Scotland cops and staff facing charges including sex crimes
More than 40 police officers and staff are being prosecuted over offences including sex crime, assaults and domestic abuse.
A Record probe has unearthed dozens of cases where Police Scotland employees are due in the dock.
Alleged offences among 44 individuals include threatening or abusive behaviour and sending threatening texts and sexual messages.
Other charges include claims of fraud and firearms offences .

Scottish scallop trawler seized by French in escalating Channel fishing war
A Scottish fishing trawler has been seized in France and the skipper is due in court in an escalating Brexit row over fishing rights
The Cornelis Gert Jan, a scallop dredger which operates out of the port of Shoreham in West Sussex, is operated by MacDuff Shellfish of Scotland.
MacDuff Shellfish said its fishing activity was “entirely legal” and the vessel was “legally fishing for scallop” in French waters when it was detained by the authorities.
The firm said it would defend itself against any claims and that its boat was just “another pawn” in the ongoing France-UK fishing row and urged the UK government to “defend the rights of the UK fishing fleet”.

Scots student became ‘erratic and hysterical’ after being ‘spiked by injection’ in nightclub queue
A Dundee University student has issued a warning after being spiked with a needle in her thigh at a nightclub, which left her "erratic and hysterical".
Katy Stevenson, 19, believes she was jabbed with a needle while queuing with pals to get into Underground club on South Tay Street at around midnight on Tuesday, October 26.
She has no memory of her night beyond that point, but woke up the next morning to find a red puncture wound in the skin of her leg.
The area around the injection site was also badly bruised.
