Richard III: The Burial Of The King
10am, Channel 4

Live coverage of the overdue interment of the last monarch of the House of York, 530 years after he was clouted with a halberd on Bosworth Field, and a little over two years since his remains were recovered from beneath a car park in Leicester. Richard III: The King Laid To Rest, at 8pm, includes highlights of today’s service, and the final farewell to Richard from those who found him, along with a few of his descendants. His new tombstone will also be revealed. Andrew Mueller

9pm, BBC2

The last 20 minutes of this episode is a cracking fable, full of brutal love and death, with the fierce dignity of convicts shipped to 18th-century Australia coming face to snarling face with their masters’ bogus authority. The final scene will leave you winded. Exactly what we hoped for from a Jimmy McGovern period drama, in contrast to the previous scenes, which feel merely like a stilted, perfunctory period drama, too glossy and gentle by half. Is it worth it? If you’ve come this far you’d probably say yes. Jack Seale

India’s Frontier Railways
9pm, BBC4

The Samjhauta (meaning “agreement”) Express is a train route that can’t quite live up to its billing. A twice-weekly service between India and Pakistan, the spirit of compromise and reconciliation it hopes to represent has been upended by a number of terrorist attacks (a 2007 bombing claimed 68 fatalities). This doc follows passengers such as Bilal and his father, who are seeking medical treatment in India; also the annual special service to the home town of Guru Nanak, founder of the Sikh religion. Fortitude
9pm, Sky Atlantic

With its inhabitants finally recognising that Fortitude’s many violent assaults are the result of something far stranger than mere human malice, this week the lab workers attempt a risky procedure on one of the perpetrators – the results of which prompt Hildur (Sofie Gråbøl) to make a decision that could prove fateful. Meanwhile, Morton (Stanley Tucci) finds what he’s looking for, though at a substantial cost, while Henry (Michael Gambon) has his slow death rudely interrupted by an outsider. Gwilym Mumford

Inside No 9
10pm, BBC2

The anthology series from Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith returns. We begin on a six-berth sleeper in France. Without giving too much away, expect fart jokes, an unpleasant discovery and, in a show that makes a virtue of its claustrophobic environs, mismatched passengers winding each other up. The script is a delight, with one line delivered by Jack Whitehall quite possibly the most gloriously tasteless you’ll hear on television all year. Also starring Julie Hesmondhalgh and Mark Benton. 11.50pm, Sky Atlantic

Series two of the stylish yet slow-moving drama set within San Francisco’s gay community draws to a close. Patrick (Jonathan Groff) and Kevin (Russell Tovey) are playing house in the latter’s new apartment, but will their domestic bliss prove shortlived? Dom and Doris (Murray Bartlett and Lauren Weedman) make up after their financial falling out and Agustín (Frankie J Alvarez) is nervous as his “tolerance” mural is unveiled at the homeless shelter. With a third season as yet unconfirmed, this could be the show’s swansong. Hannah J Davies
