So Awkward
4.30pm, CBBC

New kids’ series following three socially awkward Year 8 girls as they navigate the trials and tribulations of teenage life. Lily (Cleo Demetriou), Martha (Sophia Dall’Aglio) and Jas (Ameerah Falzon-Ojo) prefer chess club and documentaries to parties and netball practice. They’re not eager to please, however, and prefer to stick together rather than fighting to fit in. This opener sees them deal with embarrassing parents, while in episode two – after Blue Peter – they’re keen to look their best for non-uniform day. Hannah J Davies

The British Soap Awards 2015
8pm, ITV

It’s the glittering night of gongs for the UK’s “Big Five”: EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks and Doctors. Phillip Schofield is on hosting duties and after a year of competitive storylining, the battle is on for the soap stars. EastEnders is in a strong position after its killer-revealing Live Week and both Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright are up for best actor and actress. Nominations for scene of the year vary from Deidre lobbing a trifle in Corrie to the Hollyoaks train crash. Hannah Verdier

Born Naughty?
8pm, Channel 4

Another brace of recalcitrant kids come under the scrutiny of Dr Dawn Harper and Dr Ravi Jayaram, who try to decide whether their charges are suffering from a medical problem or just little toads in need of a firm hand. Tonight we meet Bobby who only eats sweets and yoghurt. Does he have a food phobia? When you’ve stopped laughing you can also meet toddler Jesse-Jai – it’s a name – who doesn’t play well with others. Can everyone stop being terrified of their kids and just boss them about a bit please? Julia Raeside

Shark
9pm, BBC1

As many as a quarter of the world’s shark species face extinction, in great part thanks to commercial fishing. As the final part of the BBC’s latest natural history epic relates, we’re in danger of losing these creatures before we’ve even really learned much about their lives and, ironically, at a time when we’re beginning to overcome our fear of them. Tonight’s footage ranges from an encounter with a curious manta ray playing with bubbles through to film of a bioluminescent swell shark lurking in a gloomy kelp forest. Jonathan Wright

The Game
9pm, BBC2

Episode four of this sub-le Carré drama, and MI5 is reeling from the knowledge the KGB has completely led them up the Odessa Steps with the fake “Operation Glass” – although, as that talking Toby Jug, Daddy (Brian Cox) says, best to keep schtum, eh? Especially as we still don’t yet know whether Soviet defector Arkady is truly Team GB. Meanwhile, Special Branch spreads a Hampstead Heath-based rumour about Bobby Waterhouse (Paul Ritter) that threatens to derail his career; and there’s an assassin in town. Ali Catterall

Quintinshill: Britain’s Worst Rail Disaster
9pm, BBC4

If it had happened almost any year but 1915, the Quintinshill disaster would be part of national folklore – a horrific multi-train collision near Gretna Green that left at least 220 dead. However, given that such an appalling toll was equivalent only to a bad few minutes on the Somme, Quintinshill has been somewhat forgotten (although, in grim irony, many victims were soldiers of the Royal Scots, off to Gallipoli). Neil Oliver recalls the crash and wonders if blame has been fairly apportioned. Andrew Mueller

Mad Men
10pm, Sky Atlantic

Farewell then to Don, Pete, Peggy, Joan, Sterling Cooper, all-day office boozing and a show that cast a far longer cultural shadow than its meagre ratings intimated. Before the eulogies, though, there’s a final episode to reckon with, as Don continues his dreamlike US road trip. Will he find what he’s been looking for? Whatever the answer, expect Matt Weiner’s great period drama to sign off in enigmatic and captivating fashion. Followed by a repeat airing of Ad Men, which traces the history of British advertising agencies. Gwilym Mumford
